Taegeuk Pal Jang

 

 

Taegeuk Pal Jang is a series of actions applying GON principle. GON symbolises Earth. The earth is the source of life. Things take life from it and grow, draining limitless energy. The earth is where the creative force of heaven is embodied. Taegeuk Pal Jang is the graders last round of training, and a stepping-stone to the way of the Dan grade holder.

Here you perfect all the fundamental actions and review them. Actions should be performed clearly and expertly. A strong character should be shown in techniques and, as is the earth, an unbending force.

 

1a. Step forward moving left foot out into left back stance and execute middle section closed hand guarding block.

1b. Keeping right foot in place move left foot forward into left long stance and execute reverse punch with right fist.

2a. Keeping left foot in place execute front kick with left leg.

2b. Holding knee in air execute front kick with left leg.

2c. Step down with left foot out into left long stance and execute a left stabbing block.

2d. Remain in the same stance and execute reverse punch with the right fist.

3. Step forward moving right foot out into right long stance and execute right punch.

4. Turn 270 left moving left foot out into left reverse long stance and execute a right high section thumb - side          block behind you and a left low section block in front.

5. Move left foot slightly to left as to turn reverse long stance and execute a high section upper - cut with right fist       while pulling opponent onto fist with left hand.

6. Turn 180 right stepping across yourself into right reverse long stance and execute a left high section thumb - side block behind you and right low section block in front.

7. Move right foot slightly to right as to turn reverse long stance to front long stance and execute high section           upper - cut with left fist while pulling opponent onto fist with right hand.

8. Turn 270 left moving right foot out into left back stance and execute middle section knife-hand guarding block.

9. Keeping right foot in place move left foot forward into left long stance and execute reverse punch with right fist.

10a. Keeping left foot in place execute front kick with right leg.

10b. Step back with right foot, then step back with left foot into right tiger stance and execute a right middle section           palm block.

11. Turn 90 left moving left foot into left tiger stance and execute middle section knife-hand guarding block.

12a. Keeping right foot in place execute left front kick.

12b. Step down with left foot out into left long stance and execute a reverse punch with right fist.

13. Step back with left leg into left tiger stance and execute a left middle section palm block.

14. Turn 180 right moving right foot into right tiger stance and execute middle section knife-hand guarding block.

15a. Step down with right foot out into right long stance and execute a reverse punch with left fist.

16. Step back with right leg into right tiger stance and execute a right middle section palm block.

17. Turn 90 right moving right foot out into right back stance and execute low section closed hand guarding block.

18a. Keeping right foot in place execute front kick with left leg.

18b. Holding knee in air execute jumping front kick with right leg - YELL

18c. Step down with right foot out into right long stance and execute a right stabbing block.

18d. Remain in the same stance and execute reverse punch with left fist.

18e. Remain in the same stance and execute right punch.

19. Turn 270 left moving left foot out into left back stance and execute left middle section knife-hand block.

20. Keeping right foot in place move left foot forward into left long stance and execute reverse elbow strike with         right arm.

21a. Remain in the same stance and execute a right high section - back - fist strike.

21b. Remain in the same stance and execute a left punch.

22. Turn 180 right moving right foot out into right back stance and execute right middle section knife-hand block.

23. Keeping left foot in place move right foot forward into right long stance and execute reverse elbow strike with         left arm.

24a.Remain in the same stance and execute a left high section side - back - fist strike.

24b. Remain in the same stance and execute a right punch.
