Taegeuk Ill Jang

KEON represents heaven and light. Heaven gives us rain and the sun gives us light and makes things grow. Therefore KEON is the beginning of everything on earth and the source of creation. When performing this taegeuk the mind should be clear and allow all the basic techniques to flow. As with creation this taegeuk is simple, yet forms the basis for more complex movements and techniques to come.

 

1. Turn 90 left moving left foot into left walking stance and execute a left low section block.

2. Step forward with right foot into walking stance and punch with right fist middle section.

3. Turn 180 right stepping with right foot out into right walking stance and execute a right low section block.

4. Step forward with left foot out into walking stance and punch with left fist middle section.

5a. Step 90 left moving left foot out into left long stance and execute a left low section block.

5b. Remain in same stance and execute a reverse punch with the right fist.

6. Step 90 right moving right foot up into right walking stance and execute a left stabbing block.

7. Step forward with left foot out into right walking stance and punch with the right fist middle section.

8. Turn 180 left stepping with the left foot out into walking stance and execute a right stabbing block.

9.Step forward with right foot into walking stance and punch with left fist middle section.

10a. Step 90 right moving right foot out into right long stance and execute a right low section block.

10b. Remain in the same stance and execute a reverse punch with the left fist.

11. Step 90 left moving left foot into left walking stance and execute a left high section block.

12. Keeping left foot in place execute middle section punch with the right fist.

13. Step down in right walking stance and execute middle section punch with right fist.

14. Turn 180 right stepping with right foot out into right walking stance and execute a right high section block.

15. Keeping right foot in place execute front kick with left leg.

16. Step down into left walking stance and execute middle section punch with left fist.

17. Turn 90 right stepping with left foot out into left long stance and execute a left low section block.

18. Step forward with right foot out into right long stance and punch with right fist middle section - YELL
